Free Pattern: Kepler
Say hi to Kepler, a close-fitting cabled pullover which is a new free knitting pattern here on the blog. Like it?
I really loved designing it, and I love wearing it too. Kepler was intended to highlight the beauty of a single cable, in this case a 16-row Celtic braid, which might get overlooked within an Aran design. I flipped the cable onto the horizontal, for a new perspecitive on the cable and to allow for a more body-conscious design. Aside from the cables, everything on this pullover is kept very simple. Narrow shoulders and waist shaping make for a flattering fit, while three-quarter sleeves and a boatneck look elegant yet simple.
The cable bands are knit first, then stitches are picked up along the edges to create the cast on edges for the front, back, and sleeves. The collar is a simple applied I-cord edging. If anyone out there decides to knit it, please let me know how it turns out!
I'm offering it for free, but I am thinking about setting up a link where you can paypal voluntarily and all money would go to charity. That probably won't happen til the weekend, though.

PS: This link is to the corrected version of the pattern!

Oooh, what a great sweater! Thanks for the pattern!

That is EXACTLY the kind of sweater I have always dreamed about designing...only different. I've envisioned a sweater with cable bands around the bottom and the cuffs, just like yours, but also with flat cabled bands on the top of the shoulders leading to a cabled stand-up "mandarin" collar. Er, and mine would be much, much bigger. ;-)
Beautiful. Great job! Very inspiring!

It's really really lovely. How nice to combine the complexity of cables into a pattern that flatters a woman's figure. So rare to see it done so nicely.

Oh merciful Cthulhu. I've been looking for a cabled sweater pattern for some special yarn I have... this has just the right amount of cables... gauge is close enough for cowboy work...
*applause*
(dare I ask how you made the pretty schematics? All the spiffy patterns have them, but I missed the memo on how to make them.)
